Parent FAQs - About Pamoja Education

  1. Who is behind Pamoja Education?

Pamoja Education is led by a dedicated team of professionals, based in Oxford, UK. We are highly committed to the vision and goals of the IB - a commitment reflected in our CVs (previous teaching/management experience in IB World Schools), our families (we have children participating in IB programmes) - and, above all, in our passion to increase access to the full breadth of the IB curriculum.

Pamoja Education was founded by Pamoja Capital - a Geneva-based investment group investing the funds of the Canadian philanthropists John and Marcy McCall MacBain. Pamoja Capital invests in companies, primarily in the education and alternative energy sectors, which generate direct social benefit while also providing returns to fund the charitable McCall MacBain Foundation (www.mccallmacbain.org) and its work in sub-Saharan Africa.

Pamoja Education, Pamoja Capital and the McCall MacBain Foundation have no political or religious affiliations, respect diversity of backgrounds and points of view, and seek to encourage constructive global dialogue and understanding in conducting their business, investment and charitable activities.

  2. What are Pamoja Education’s long term plans?
    • Pamoja Education has committed to develop approximately 30 online IB courses within the next five years. However, depending on the response from IB schools, students and parents, we hope the number can be even greater.
    • Already in September 2011, we will be offering 11 courses, covering four of the six IB subject groups. In 2012, in addition to expanded offerings covering all six subject groups, we look forward to introducing online support for the IB Core.
    • We are strongly committed to the vision of bringing the full scope of IB curriculum to students around the world!
