Transfer Students
Pamoja Education understands that one of the key benefits of providing online courses is the ability to accommodate students who are transferring from one school to another. Since the beginning of the 2011-2012 academic year, we have accepted more than forty students into our online courses. These are students that had to transfer to new schools that did not teach one of their current Diploma Programme subjects, or where a teacher was no longer available in their current school.
While we make an effort to accommodate all prospective students, we do so in full consideration of each student's individual academic interests. The registration deadline for first year transfer students is the first day of the second academic semester, as specified on the published Pamoja Education academic calendar. Registrations are open for second year transfer students until the end of Year 1, subject to course availability. Following these deadlines, Pamoja Education will only enrol students as time and resources permit.
Conditions for a successful student transfer into a Pamoja Education online IB course include (but are not limited to) the following criteria:
- The student is motivated and is willing to complete additional work, if required, to ensure they cover outstanding course material.
- Pamoja Education is able to successfully communicate with both the outgoing and incoming schools as early as possible to make all necessary academic and non-academic arrangements for the student's pending enrolment.
- The incoming school nominates a Site-Based Coordinator (SBC) who can participate in Pamoja Education's SBC training, before the student enters the online class.
- The student's online teacher acknowledges capacity within the online class to accommodate the student.
- Pamoja Education, the online teacher and the incoming school agree conditions for success are in place allowing the student to successfully complete the two-year online IB course.
